To the Curio Theatre Community:
We are excited to announce our 2022 Spotlight Fund in honor of our dear friend Mary Allegra. Mary was such a force of good, and the annual Spotlight Fund is designed to support Curio in endeavors that bring greater excellence to our company. Last year you helped us to purchase an HVAC system for our Blackbox theatre and classrooms. You made teachers, children, and actors very happy!! (and safe!) This season, our goal is to increase our "surround programming": talkbacks with artists and experts on the topic of early detection and suicide prevention, community engagement opportunities, educational experiences designed to expand the conversations ignited by our shows. GIDION'S KNOT, a show that grapples with an act of grief and violence by a child, requires a way for us to support audiences as they process the material. THE COMPLETE DEATHS, a highly stylized physical piece, offers a fascinating window into a long tradition of clowning, and we would love to offer our patrons a glimpse into our process of creating that show.
We are aiming to raise $4,000 for this year’s Spotlight Fund, and your donation would enable us to create the surround programming that would foster deeper offstage engagement in our onstage work. We want to be able to bring in children’s mental health experts to answer questions after select performances of GIDION'S KNOT, and we hope to offer some clowning workshops for children as a compliment to THE COMPLETE DEATHS. It will also allow us to offer free or discounted tickets to teachers on nights that we host these speakers. Will you donate today and help us expand the conversation and welcome some new voices?
Please use link below to donate today! For checks, please make checks payable to Curio Theatre Company (815 South 48th Street Philadelphia PA 19143)
Thank you so much from the Whole Curio Team for your generosity and continued support. It means so much, especially as we work our way our of the difficulties of the last few years. Every donation helps!
