They called her the Black Joan of Arc. She called herself ‘fighting’ Shirley as she faced off against the political machine in the name of justice. Ingrid Griffith is a New York City based actor and the creator and performer of Shirley Chisholm: Unbossed & Unbowed, A One-Woman Show about the life and times of the political pioneer/social justice activist Shirley Anita (St. Hill) Chisholm. Ingrid has been touring “Unbossed & Unbowed” across the country and abroad for the past 3 years, with the hope that this largely unheard story will enlighten audiences and inspire them to take action that will bring about positive change. Ingrid Griffith’s one-woman show, Shirley Chisholm: Unbossed & Unbowed, won the Outstanding Playwriting Award at the Hear Her Call Caribbean American Women’s Playwriting Festival (2020). She received a Danny Glover Power of Dream Award (2022), a Guyana Cultural Award for her work’s originality, scope, impact, influence, and her pioneering spirit (2023). Shirley Chisholm: Unbossed & Unbowed was winner of the 2023 Suzi Bass Award, Atlanta’s
professional theater awards, for Outstanding Production about Social Justice (produced by Out of Hand Theater in Atlanta, GA) and Ingrid Griffith was a 2023 Suzi Bass Award Nominee for Outstanding Principal Performer in a Play. In October 2024, Dihvinely Konnecked Productions invited Ingrid Griffith back to Atlanta, GA to present "Unbossed & Unbowed” at Synchronicity Theater.
